The 2011 'Young Apprentice' winner has been revealed!

After eight weeks of brainwaves, bragging and bargaining, Zara Brownless has been chosen as the winner of BBC1 series 'Young Apprentice'. The 16-year-old from Hertfordshire impressed businessman Lord Sugar with her money-making talents, and walked off with an amazing £25,000 prize to spend on business development!

Twelve teenagers began the competition, and they were all certain they had the skills to be successful business people. But over the course of the series, 10 were sent on their way after hearing the dreaded words ‘You’re fired!’ from Lord Sugar. The final week’s show saw Zara battle it out with James McCullagh as they both tried to design a computer game. It was a close contest, but after thinking about his decision carefully, Lord Sugar picked Zara as his young apprentice for 2011.

During the series, the contestants took part in a number of challenges, including setting up a flower shop, developing a new type of deodorant and designing a new product for parents with young babies.

Do you think you've got what it takes to be a young apprentice one day? If so, why not get some friends together and set up your own biscuit business challenge! Next time your school has a fair, get a stall and follow these instructions:

1. Form two teams of four people, and choose a captain for each team. Each captain collects £1 from each team member, and puts in £1 themselves.
2. Each team spends its £4 on biscuits and cake decorations. Will you go for cheap biscuits and fancy decorations – or the other away around? These are important decisions!
3. As a team, decorate your biscuits with colourful sweets or pieces of fruit to make them look as delicious as possible. Then draw some cool signs to advertise your biscuits. Pick a team member who is good at art to guide the others!
4. Now you need to decide how much to sell your biscuits for. Too expensive, and no-one will buy them. But too cheap, and you won’t make a profit. Make sure you get the maths right!
5. At the end of the day, count up the cash – whichever team has the most money wins!

If you know someone aged 16-17 who has lots of business ideas and is great with money, they could star in the next series of 'Young Apprentice' in 2012. Click here for more details about applying.
