Superman comic sells for £1.4 million!

Someone out there must REALLY like Superman! The first comic to feature the superhero was recently sold online for $2.16 million (that’s about £1.4 million). When it first came out in America in 1938, ‘Action Comics #1’ cost just 10 cents (the same as a few pence). But now it’s super-valuable because it’s one of only a few copies left that isn’t damaged.

Keeping comic books looking as good as new is very important to people who collect them. Any smudged ink or torn pages can knock thousands of pounds off the value of a comic. It’s probably safe to say the person who bought this one won’t be sharing it with their little brother or sister, just in case it gets damaged!

Luckily, you don’t need £1.4 million to start collecting things. Check out these tips on how to get going
